Festival!

June 11, 2005 05:49PM

As we flew over Paris last night, in our plane, looking down at the Eiffel Tower as it lit up to say hello, having just played Donnington on our way to play Imola, we thought to ourselves, well, things could be worse. The Italian show was great, as was Download except for every possible thing going wrong. Still, a blast. Was a bit difficult playing tonight with members of both REM and Green Day watching from the side of the stage, but these are all nice problems to have. The drummer guy from Green Day wondered if they could have the rest of the beers in our dressing room after we left, and we said yes.

Londinium

Well... what a night at Brixton tonight! Thanks you guys. We had so much fun. What a thing that Shirley's dad got to see such a show, and such an audience, on his birthday. There are a few new pictures posted above. In the morning- off to metal-land! Port-a-loos ahoy!

It is summer, it is festival time

June 05, 2005 09:44PM

We have played a shitload of festivals over the past ten years. Some great, some less so. The two in Germany this weekend were really good, despite the weather on Saturday. We were most pleasantly pleased. Although the porta-loos were so far away we (all of us) had to pee in the potted plant in the dressing room (Shirley used a cup first). We hope the plant is okay and will continue to prosper.
Here's a schedule for you- play Rock Am Ring until midnight, leave around one AM, drive two hours back to Koln, fight with the hotel there for two hours about your lost laundry, wake up at 7 after about 1 hour sleep to go to the airport, fly to Munich, drive in a bus two hours to a hotel in Nuremburg, sit there for an hour or two, drive in a bus to Rock Am park, get out of bus, drive further in a van to finally arrive at gig. Play gig, which fucking rocks. Then someone mentions- why didn't we just drive to this show from last nights show? It would have been as quick as driving back to Koln, and wouldn't have meant early rising, passport control, and taking off your shoes. Who is sailing this ship, sometimes we wonder quietly to ourselves. But we carry on, and on, and so forth. Butch swears he had the world's most perfect bratwurst yesterday. Which I guess makes up for a lot.
